The board of directors and the Eagala trainers take this model very seriously and you can see the difference from the first training I attended, more detailed, broken down to have a better understanding of each skillset, left each day wanting to learn more and become a better facilitator of the model when I go back to work.

Why Eagala Membership Matters

Your Eagala Membership grants access to professional support, continuing education, and a dynamic network of mental health professionals and equine specialists practicing the Eagala Model in real-world settings.

Membership is designed to:

  • Help you maintain and renew your certification
  • Keep you connected to evolving standards, ethics, and research
  • Offer support through mentoring, resources, and networking
  • Elevate your visibility and credibility as a certified professional
  • Foster collaboration through a values-driven, global community

Whether you’re running your own program, partnering with a facility, or building your experience, membership helps you stay grounded in the model—and supported by those who practice it.

I liked how each part was broken down so it could be understood. I liked the examples given and the opportunities to practice the new skills. Given this was my first Eagala training it opened my eyes to looking at therapy with clients in a way I did not think about before, which is fantastic. I took away so many positives from this experience. This was a safe space in which we could make mistakes without judgement, received encouragement, and were able to be vulnerable.

Who Can Become a Member?

Eagala Membership is available to individuals who have completed Eagala Certification as a licensed mental health professional, an equine specialist, or a specialized professional. Membership is automatically activated upon certification and is maintained through recertification requirements every two years.

If you’re currently certified, you’re already a member—ready to engage more deeply with the resources and relationships available through the Eagala network. There are three membership types: General, Advanced, and Military Designated. All begin with successful certification in the Eagala Model.

I am very happy that I decided to do this training. It was a very positive experience that validated the work I have been doing and has re-inspired my mission to continue helping people find success through partnership with horses.

Staying Active and Certified

Membership plays an essential role in maintaining your Eagala Certification. To stay current, members are required to:

  • Complete 20 Eagala-specific CEUs every two years
  • Attend an in-person training at least once every four years
  • Uphold the Eagala Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice

Your membership ensures that your work remains aligned with the most current guidance and that your certification continues to reflect Eagala’s high professional standards.

If certification lapses, membership is no longer active. However, individuals may choose to become subscribers, a separate paid category that offers access to resources but does not include certification or public representation as an Eagala practitioner.

They did a great job facilitating a class with such diverse backgrounds. They exemplified the Eagala philosophy and were able to clarify the concepts outlined in the handbook.

  • Regional networking events and community gatherings – if a networking meeting is virtual, you can join any meeting around the world.

  • Invitations to contribute insight, feedback, or ideas that help shape the future of Eagala
  • Opportunities to join committees, present at global meetings, serve as regional networking coordinators, apply to the Eagala Board of Directors, or host trainings at your facility.
