Funding Resources for Eagala Certification and Programs
If you’re exploring ways to fund your Eagala Certification or support programs aligned with the Eagala Model, you’re not alone. Many professionals and organizations have successfully used outside funding to reduce costs, expand services, and bring equine-assisted psychotherapy to more people.
While Eagala does not currently offer internal grants or scholarships, we are committed to helping you pursue external opportunities. From providing letters of support to offering sample language for grant proposals, we’re here to help you navigate the funding landscape.

Both facilitators did a great job over the five days. I would definitely attend again if they were facilitating — they brought a wealth of knowledge. As a neurodivergent participant, I see a huge opportunity for Eagala to become even more accessible and inclusive. With structure, clarity, and awareness of different learning styles, the model could better support all participants. I believe neurodivergent individuals — many of whom are drawn to working with animals — will increasingly attend Eagala trainings. This model has powerful potential to reach people across a wide spectrum of experience.
Does Eagala offer scholarships or tuition assistance?
No—Eagala does not offer internal scholarships, tuition assistance, or direct grants at this time.
However, we can support your funding efforts by writing letters of support or helping you describe your connection to the Eagala Model. For example, if a foundation or employer requires confirmation that you’ve been invited to training or are affiliated with a recognized model, we’re happy to provide documentation.

The concept, the instructors, and the model were all fabulous! We had some of the best instructors out there — they set clear objectives, stuck to them, and managed the group with professionalism and care. I love the powerful model Eagala offers. The facility, the setting, and the overall experience were excellent.

Have others used grants or outside funding for certification?
Yes! Eagala members have successfully secured funding for certification and training through a variety of sources, including:
- Employers and professional development programs
- Veterans’ services (such as VA funding or the GI Bill)
- Local or state government workforce training initiatives
- Continuing education grants from behavioral health organizations
If you’re working in a mental health, nonprofit, or equine services role, check with your employer or local agencies to see what training support may be available.

I registered the day before the training started and didn’t expect the transformation I had. I was very impressed and excited to continue learning the Eagala Model. Patti and Ray were approachable, clear, and patient—they created a supportive space to ask questions and learn deeply. They checked in with me multiple times during breaks, which really improved my experience. I felt like it truly mattered to them that I absorbed the material. This training was a major positive learning experience, and I hope I get them again in the future!
Are there known organizations that fund Eagala-based programs?
There’s no single list of funders that support Eagala-aligned services, and funding varies by region and mission.
However, practitioners have found success with:
- Community development or trauma recovery grants
- Veterans’ support services
- Youth, juvenile justice, or family-focused funding
- Rural health or mental wellness initiatives
- Private foundations that support experiential therapies
Funding sources often depend on the populations served and the goals of your program. Many grantmakers are looking for evidence-informed, ethical models—which makes the Eagala Model a strong fit.

Connecting with other professionals and witnessing how they apply the Eagala Model was incredibly valuable. Working with the horses was both impactful and energizing — I gained a deeper understanding of how equine interactions can powerfully support a client’s process. The experiential nature of the training brought the Eagala Model to life in a way that made its therapeutic structure, ethics, and team approach truly resonate.

Can Eagala help with grant writing or application materials?
Yes. If you’re applying for a grant that supports your Eagala training or programming, we can provide:
- Letters of support affirming your participation or certification
- Sample outcomes and descriptions of the Eagala Model

This training created so many ‘Ah-hah’ moments. I appreciated how the facilitators gauged the group’s understanding and delivered the content clearly and compassionately.
Does Eagala have a list of funders or grant databases?
Not yet. Eagala is exploring ways to compile a resource list of funders and categories, but it is not currently available. We recommend connecting with other Certified Members, who may have recommendations based on their region, program type, or past funding experiences.
Tips for Finding and Applying for Funding
If you’re seeking funding for training or program development, here are a few tips:
- Clarify your goals. Are you seeking funding for Eagala Certification? Launching a new service? Expanding access to an existing program?
- Research funders that align with your work. Look for organizations that support behavioral health, trauma recovery, underserved communities, veterans, youth development, or rural access.
- Tell your story clearly. Describe your population, outcomes, and how your program uses the Eagala Model’s co-facilitated, experiential structure.
- Use data. If applicable, include research or member survey outcomes. Funders often look for evidence-informed models.
- Ask for help. Eagala can provide letters or sample descriptions, and your fellow practitioners may be willing to share successful applications or lessons learned.
Does Eagala apply for grants directly?
Yes—Eagala actively seeks grants to support its broader mission and expand the global reach of equine-assisted psychotherapy. We are open to connecting with partners on this, and if it fits our goals!
