Steve McWilliams started volunteering for Take Flight Farms in Omaha, Nebraska in 2007 and became fully certified with Eagala as an equine specialist (ES) in 2009. With Take Flight Farms, he has worked mostly with youth: equine-assisted learning provided to school groups; equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) through an eating disorder program at Children’s Hospital; and EAP with at-risk youth in residential facilities. He has also participated in Eagala sessions to provide individual therapy and addiction treatment. He understands the power of equine-assisted therapy and wants to support its expansion in the world. Professionally, Steve has worked in the financial sector for the last 45 years, serving as an agricultural lender, a CFO and providing part-time CFO services to ag producers. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural economics. When not working or volunteering, he loves to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoys a hobby farm with a horse and mule.
