Randy Mandrell is the cofounder and Director of Equine Services at Refuge Services in Lubbock, Texas, and a seasoned Eagala Trainer with more than 25 years of Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) experience. With over 40 years in the horse industry as a trainer, farrier, and herd manager, Randy was the first horse professional in Texas to deliver outpatient EAP services in collaboration with mental health clinicians. He has trained Eagala professionals for over 18 years and was honored as Eagala’s “Outstanding Horse Professional” in 2001.

Randy specializes in mentoring Equine Specialists, drawing on his deep understanding of horse behavior, herd dynamics, and ethical, safe equine practices. His expertise spans complex trauma, addiction and eating disorders, veteran and family services, and Christian-integrated programs. He also brings valuable knowledge in facility design and construction for equine-assisted therapy programs, as well as team collaboration and nonprofit operations. As Director of Equine Services at a facility offering multiple modalities, Randy is passionate about helping others elevate the role of the horse and uphold the integrity of the Eagala Model in therapeutic work.
